History
The trademark of Tackla was established in 1961 by Alf and Raily Nylund. The existing Saimaan Urheilupuku factory in Lappeenranta changed it name to Tackla. Original products were felt footwear, gym footwear, jogging suits and other sports clothing. In the year 1961 with the ice hockey pants begun the part of the Tackla´s success story that had been lasting until present time. The head office and production were located in Lappeenranta. Other production siter were in Imatra, Savonranta and Mikkeli.
When NHL-team Boston Bruins chose Tackla products in 1982, Tackla opened the door to co-operation with with the NHL - world´s leading ice hockey league of top professionals. Today many NHL-players use Tackla products.
By the end of the 1980-ies Tackla was the provider of all teams of the Finnish national league.
In the year 1988 Tackla signed the agreement with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Tackla´s task was the delivery of players clothing to the World´s Championships. Tackla made its break to the international ice hockey in 1988 at the Calgary Olympic arena.
In the year 1995 national team Finland won their first World Championship in Tackla products.
Tackla and IIHF restarted their co-operation in 2002 with delivery of players clothing to IIHF-tournaments. Tackla produces and deliveres uniforms to over 130 teams of over 40 countries around the globe.
